How often should you eat meat substitutes (Boca, Morning Star, Quorn)?

Melody:): :
I posted a question in the diet and fitness section (explaining that I was vegetarian) asking if I had eaten healthy. I’m struggling to lose weight, exercising and eating somewhat healthy just isn’t paying off so Im getting really strict with what I eat.

This one person was correcting some of m choices and giving examples. She used a meat substitute in EVERY meal. See I rarely eat meat substitutes and when I do it’s only when I’m craving chik’n nuggets (about once a week) I don’t eat veggie burgers or anything because I never really liked meat besides chicken. (even as a young child)

That person just got me thinking though, is it even healthy to eat meat substitutes EVERY meal!?

can you lose the weight you gained while on antidepressants? if so when?

i’ve been on and off antidepressants for the past few years. i am a teenage girl, and i have tried just about them all! when i was on my last pill i believe this made me gain weight. i didn’t eat anymore, i even the weight just wouldn’t budge it even seemed to climb, and dieting seemed not too work! i’ve been off this medicane for a while ive lost weight.. i know i have been exercising and eating better but i think it was part of getting off the medicane as well.

in an article i read today in fitness magazine it said antidepressants commonly slow the metabolism because they affect the functioning of the thyroid gland, which regulates how our bodies use energy. said Kent Holtorf, M.D. a thyroidologist. he said it also signals the body to store fat.

i want to know that the effects these antidepressants had on my body can be restored now that i’m off the pill? and will my body turn back to normal? and if so when can i expect to be back to normal?

PLEASE HELP thanks :)

Can ab exercises cause bloating?

Hi!

The question pretty much says it all.

Here’s some info about my eating habits, fitness, etc.:

I started doing Tracy Anderson’s mat workout a week ago which is about 200+ crunches a day. I did this 5 times a week and my stomach is bigger and bloated, I look as if I was pregnant.
My workout routine consists of 30-40 min intense cardio on a treadmill and one to one hour and a half of toning (arms+legs+abs). This is what I have been doing for a month at the gym.
I did the common 3 sets of 15 reps which didn’t make my abs work at all and since I switched to doing 200 crunches my abs are much harder (which I like) but also my stomach looks bloated.

I also went vegetarian 3 months ago (but I eat some fish, no dairy though).

Unfortunately I don’t drink too much water, I always forget to drink. I’d say my average water intake is 1 to 1,5 liter per day. I’ve heard that water retention may cause bloating (when your intake is too low)?

What could it be? Or maybe the whole change (diet+fitness)?
I’m also stressed because financially things aren’t going too well and I am easily irritated (no wonder, it’s 86ยบ+ F every day).

I hope someone knows what the reason for my bloated stomach could be.

Thanks!! :)

Abbie (19 yrs. old)
Hmm I don’t drink coffee but green tea daily and I am also on a sort of macrobiotic diet (not too strict), I allow me some soy milk.
I must say I eat very healthy and pure non or little-processed foods.
